i'm going to keep this short so hopefully people are more likely to read and interact/donate. i wish i could tell you all about how much this family means to me, but people have been turning a blind eye to families in gaza now more than ever, so i'm trying something different in the hopes that it will help my dear friends. i'll keep trying again if this doesn't work. i'm desperate for them.

hi everyone. i'm writing to you today with desperate urgency. as you all know, i've been advocating for my friend amal (@amalashuor) for around 2 months now. a few weeks ago, she was thankfully able to reach her first goal of raising €30k. however, due to the incredibly high cost of living as amal details in the screenshot below, she unfortunately had to increase her fundraising goal to €50k.

in the almost two weeks since amal met her first goal, only THREE THOUSAND EUROS HAS BEEN RAISED. i don't know what to do. donations have been decreasing across the board for survival and evacuation funds since the increase in accusations of gazans trying to survive being scammers. amal is so close to my heart, i want to be able to give her all the money she needs to escape gaza and provide for her beautiful family. i just want other people to want the same for her.

It was a very difficult period... but now we are in Mawasi Khan Yunis in a tent that does not protect us from the cold of winter or the heat of summer.😞😭

This is our tent, its floor is made of cardboard, as you can see, and I suffer from severe eczema due to the pollution of the air and the materials used, and the medicine is very expensive.😭💔

Ahmed (@ahmadashi1) has asked me to help him promote his campaign. He's 25, and lived with his elderly parents in Gaza City before an Israeli airstrike destroyed their home and martyred his father.

Now, Ahmed is trying to survive and support his elderly mother, who is very sick and has limited mobility. Like many Gazans, Ahmed has also gotten sick from bad food and contaminated water, and even bad food is horrifyingly expensive.

Right now (00:15 GMT on 21 November 2024, about 2:15 a.m. in Gaza), Ahmed's vetted campaign (The ButterflyEffect Project, line 152) is only up to kr19,677 (SEK) / kr100,000.

That sounds like a big number, but one Swedish kroner (SEK) is worth less than one U.S. dime, so he's received less than $2,000 USD to date, which does not go far in Gaza now!

Ahmed also has a Chuffed campaign, which is only at $788 / $10,000.

I want to make a new post to help support Hanan. Hanan and her family have been repeatedly displaced, several family members have been martyred in just a few days, and they are now trying to live in a miserable tent, sleeping on the cold ground, with little food to eat.

Hanan's daughters are sick and hurt as well as hungry — her daughter Mira has a broken hand and a respiratory infection — and Hanan is about to give birth to another child any day now. And this morning, just two hours ago, their tent was damaged by another bombing.

Her situation is unimaginably miserable: To give birth in a safe hospital bed is hard enough, but to have a child in such terrible conditions is truly hell.

Hanan's campaign is vetted (GazaVetters, line 259), but right now (about 05:15 GMT on Monday, 18 November 2024, about 7:15 a.m. in Gaza), she's only up to $2,850 / $55,000.

She has received $110 in new donations in the past 24 hours, but in Gaza, even a single package of Pampers diapers can cost $100, and food, water, clothing, and blankets are terribly expensive.

Please help Hanan and her daughters to survive this ordeal!

Today a righteous man was killed by the most wicked army on earth. Khaled Nabhan who we watched bid farewell to his beloved Reem, the soul of our soul, has joined her in the realm of souls where the wickedness of this so called humanity will no longer reach them. The man had an angelic presence to say the least. He smiled in the face of a genocide, and went around hospitals and camps comforting people despite his own pain. A man who seemed too good to be here. I longed for the day to meet him in person. I imagined the day the genocide would be over and he would be celebrated with awards around the world on the biggest stages. The demonized turbaned Muslim man who was everything they said he couldn’t be. Kind. Loving. Righteous. Resilient. Too good for this world. Our hearts are broken. Amal asked me to make a new post to help to highlight her campaign (which is vetted: line 175).

Amal was a graduate student when the current genocide began in 2023. Like so many Gazans, she and her husband and little daughter Maryam have been displaced repeatedly and are often in terrible danger.

Right now (22:00 GMT on Saturday, 16 November 2024), Amal's campaign is up to €55,535 / €75,000. This might sound like a lot of money, but Amal's campaign is supporting more than 20 people, including nine children and three elderly people with serious health conditions.

Food, diapers and milk for the babies, and medicine are EXTREMELY expensive in Gaza. Most of us have seen the infographic from Al Jazeera showing how costly grocery items like flour and eggs have become. Amal's campaign has received €125 in donations today and €50 yesterday, but divide that by 20 people and you have a whole family trying to survive on less than $10 USD a day, in a war zone where a single package of Pampers diapers can cost $100 and a bottle of milk for a baby can cost $25. A kilo (2.2 lb) of tomatoes or potatoes may cost $30 or more — if they're available at all. Amal says a single grocery run for the family can cost more than $1,000.

It is an impossible situation, and with the Israelis blocking humanitarian aid shipments (or using aid trucks to set murderous traps), your donations are the only thing enabling Amal and her family to survive at all. Please keep donating and sharing her campaign!
